Dr. Rakesh Basant has done Ph.D (Economics) from Ahmedabad University and M.Phil (Applied Economics) from JNU. He has been on the faculty of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad since 1994. Earlier he worked at the Sardar Patel Institute of Economic and Social Research and the Gujarat Institute of Development Research, both located at Ahmedabad. Dr Basant is a recipient of the of the Ford Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Economics and has spent two years at the Economic Growth Center, Yale University, U.S.A. as a Visiting Research Fellow. He has also worked as a consultant to CIDA, the World Bank, Intermediate Technology Development Group, U.K. and the United Nations Institute of New Technologies, The Netherlands. Dr Basant was a member of the Sachar Committee that prepared a report on the Social, Economic and Educational Status of the Muslim Community in India.

Prof. Ajay Pandey graduated from IIT Roorkee and then received his doctorate at IIM Ahmedabad by specializing in the Finance area. He has worked in the financial sector with a private sector joint venture startup. His professional interests related to research, training and teaching are mainly in corporate finance and capital markets such as corporate governance, risk management, project finance, volatility and asset price dynamics etc.
Prof. Pandey has also taught at MDI Gurgaon, ASCI Hyderabad and IIM Lucknow and is on the Advisory Panel for the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship at IIM Ahmedabad.
